One day at work, we were searching for a reported fire. As we were looking around, we came across one of these gross-looking things. No one had any idea what it was, so I did a bit of research. Apparently, it is a fungus slime mold, completely harmless, and forms mostly in dead, organic matter. Often described as orange dog vomit, it is called Fuligo septica. For a reference go here.
